Resources for the Kingdom of the Left Hand

Because America is moving in a post-Christian direction that is hostile to religious liberty, many organizations have arisen to help Christians in the kingdom of the Left Hand, the state. One is Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF). It was founded in 1994 to fund cases, train lawyers, and argue for religious freedom. Since its inception, ADF as won 80% of its cases and played a role in 54 victories in the U.S. Supreme Court.

Another organization is the Lutheran Center for Religious Liberty (LCRL) established in Washington, D.C. in 2018. Its mission is to support policy makers in government to maintain God-given rights for all citizens. Preaching the Law and the Gospel is the Kingdom of the Right Hand’s (Church’s) job, while defending rights of citizens is for the Left Hand. The motivation for such defense comes from many biblical passages. Jeremiah 29:7 says, Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile.   Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” Seeking the good of the Kingdom of the Left Hand will benefit all citizens. Similarly, defending the rights of people who cannot do it alone is the motivation from Proverbs 31:8, which says, “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.” Micah 6:8 simplifies the requirements of humans with this instruction: “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Finally, James 2:8 sums up our duty to our neighbor: “If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself,’ you are doing right.”
