Preparing for a Post-Christian Culture (Part 8)

Because the culture is Post-Christian in its mindset, it is essential not to shrink from social issues, but rather to engage them.  This cultural battle is worth the cost, since lives and institutions are at stake.  Socially, it is also important to remember that the law follows culture.  As the culture becomes more anti-Christian, laws will develop to match that sentiment.  The recent gay marriage ruling and ensuing lawsuits that followed are perfect examples of people holding to their conscience yet violating the law.

To deal with this day and age, we need to be informed and involved.  The following are a list of helpful resources to deal with these cultural issues:

  • World Magazine (worldmag.com)
  • Citizen Magazine (focusonthefamily.com)
  • Summit Ministries (summit.org)
  • Alliance Defending Freedom (adflegal.org)

In addition, to deal with the social issues of today, don’t go it alone.  Gather like-minded people in your church and community to deal with various topics.  There is strength in the Lord, but also in numbers!

Take comfort in the this passage from Jeremiah 29:7.  If we attend to the places in which we live, there will be positive results for the people living there, including you and your family.  “Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”
