Preparing for a Post-Christian Culture (Part 10)

To address a culture that is increasing in hostility to the faith, it will help to show how historically the Christian faith has done may positive things to influence life for the better. The weight of evidence is clearly in the Church’s favor.  For examples of this, check out Alvin Schmidt’s How Christianity Changed the World.  (You can also read my blogs from July, 2015 to June, 2016 to get a brief sketch of the information.)

One can show how religion is special and serves the public good in simple ways: involvement in civic life (service days at community events) and charitable giving (church food pantries) are two common examples.  Whether it is these, or the abolition of slavery or the homeless shelters set up by Christians, the Church has been a force for good for over 2000 years.  Praise the Lord that our predecessors kept Galatians 6:10 in their hearts and minds: “So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.”
