Islam desires that all submit to Allah.  This can be done via conversion or coercion.  Jihad is used by a minority of Muslims, yet it is a deadly minority.  Yet terror and violence are not the only weapons. Other groups have the same agenda, just different means.

University of Delaware professor Muqtedar Khan writes, “I believe that moderate Muslims are different from militant Muslims even though both of them advocate the establishment of societies whose organizing principle is Islam.” Groups that advocate a slow, incremental change to Islam are described as using “stealth” or “civilization” jihad.

The Muslim Brotherhood and the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) are, according to World magazine, “two rising examples of potent groups that use economic saavy and ‘lawfare’ —law as a weapon—to impose Islamic law and push toward a global caliphate. Given the protections they are entitled to under the U. S. Constitution, they may be a domestic force to be reckoned with.”

Similarly, the Council of American-Islamic Relation’s (CAIR) co-founder stated that if Muslims were to become a majority in America, they would try to replace the Constitution with Islamic law.   Islamic law, or shariah, is Allah’s will for all people. Imposing it is necessary for purification and redemption, since it frees us from our own desires and declares that “sovereignty belongs to Allah alone.”

Shariah law has five categories: the Five Pillars, recommended laws, forbidden laws, disapproved laws, and indifferent acts. The Five Pillars are commands to be followed, which include the creed, prayers, alms, fasting, and pilgrimage. Recommended laws are those which will garner rewards for the practitioner, such as doing extra prayers or longer fasting. Forbidden laws are ones that will bring punishment for the transgressor, such as stealing or drinking alcohol. Disapproved laws are ones which are technically violations of Allah’s law, but not punished, like divorce. Finally, indifferent acts are things neither commanded nor forbidden by Allah, so nothing is gained or loss by doing them or not doing them.

What would America look like under shariah law? It would be radically different, as the following examples prove. Conversion from Islam would result in execution. Men could marry up to four wives, but a woman could only have one husband. A wife could be beaten by her husband if she was disobedient. Lying would be permissible to safeguard a person or to protect Islam.

Obeying these laws is non-negotiable and the Muslim Brotherhood has been clear in its intentions. In 1991 they stated that they were engaged in “a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and ‘sabotaging’ its miserable house by their hands and the hands of believers so that it is eliminated and Allah’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.”

Islam as the only religion is also the stated goal of CAIR co-founder Omar Ahmad. He said, “Islam isn’t in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Quran should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth.”

So whether it is sudden, violent, overthrow by terrorism, or slow, incremental change from legal positions, the aim is to conquer the world for Allah. Starting at the end reveals Muslims who believe in subjugating nations and instituting shariah so that the world can be redeemed for Allah.

But the world has already been redeemed, and man had nothing to do with it.  Jesus has provided redemption from our sin, and has also revealed what the future truly holds.  That will be the subject of the next series of blogs.
