New Age beliefs (Part 3)

This blog series continues with the future according to New Age (or Cosmic Humanism).  The real solution to humanity’s problem is Jesus Christ, the Savior from the world’s sinfulness.  However, different worldviews have solutions to make life better on planet Earth.  These worldviews will be explained so you can understand your world better.   (For more, see my book Starting at the End.)

One of the most influential forces on today’s New Age comes from a woman and her spirit guide from the last century.  Alice Bailey (1880-1949) claimed she had a spirit called the Tibetan Master Djwhal Khul. Through trances, Bailey channeled the Tibetan Master’s messages into twenty-four books of over 10,000 pages.  She taught that the “World Spiritual Teacher” would soon appear, leading the world into the Age of Aquarius and a heightened consciousness.

Preparing the way for His coming was the task of her disciples. Bailey claimed that this Teacher’s appearance required meditation and the reciting of a prayer, the Great Invocation. It is a prayer “for the New Age and for all Humanity”:

From the point of Light within the Mind of God

Let light stream forth into human minds.

Let Light descend on Earth.

From the point of Love within the Heart of God

Let love stream forth into human hearts.

May the Coming One return to Earth.

From the centre where the Will of God is known

Let purpose guide all little human wills –

The purpose which the Masters know and serve.

From the centre which we call the human race

Let the Plan of Love and Light work out

And may it seal the door where evil dwells.

Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.

This prayer is found at the website for Lucis Trust (originally called Lucifer Publishing Company in 1922 ). It goes on to say,

Many religions believe in a World Teacher or Saviour, knowing him under such names as the Christ, the Lord Maitreya, the Imam Mahdi, the Bodhisattva, and the Messiah, and these terms are used in some of the Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist and Jewish versions of the Great Invocation. Men and women of goodwill throughout the world are using this Invocation in their own language. Will you join them in using the Invocation every day—with thought and dedication?

This is used at the Meditation Room at the United Nations Building in New York City and on United Nations Days, such as the International Day of Peace. In order to usher in utopia, enlightened people need to pray for the World Teacher to appear.

Moreover, New Age groups work regularly with the United Nations as consultants to forward their agenda. In 2001, The Aquarian Age Community held a meeting entitled, “Preparing the Way for the Reappearance of the World Spiritual Teacher: The Work of the United Nations and the World-Wide Esoteric Community.” Its report said,

We need to get away from the religious aspect of this Coming One. He is a spiritual Being and He will not be limited to the field of religion. He will be recognized and known by His Work and not by the faith of those who believe in Him. Perhaps he will come forth in the field of Politics or in the field of Science. The Tibetan Master indicates that he will manifest in the field of those who are doing the most work. But, He comes for all people and He will be the Teacher of Unity, Love and Wisdom…The ultimate aim of course, is to improve life on our planet, to improve the quality of our day-to-day life.

Evolution will effect each and every disciple; each and every person. This Spiritual Teacher will represent each and every one of us. However, each of us will see Him differently, according to our individual predilections…However, everyone will feel the tremendous Love that He brings and the energy of Love will increase on our planet. Just as a magnet can cause filings to move and to create a particular shape, so will the magnetic force of His Love cause changes to occur in people and on the planet.

This worldview misses the Love that has changed the people on the planet–the love of God shown in the person of Jesus Christ, true Man and true God, who is the Savior of the world.
