Jesus and the future: Christ’s return (Part 8)

Matthew 24:30-31 records the return of Christ as Jesus said, “At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.” The “sign of the Son of Man” is Jesus Himself, descending on the clouds as was prophesied in Daniel 7:13-14.

In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all peoples, nations and men of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.

How can everyone on the planet see Him? Because God is omnipresent, all humans will see Him. He is not confined to time and space. Therefore, no one escapes God’s presence. Jeremiah 23:24 says, “‘Can anyone hide in secret places so that I cannot see him?’ declares the LORD. ‘Do not I fill heaven and earth?’ declares the LORD.” At that point angels will collect the believers from all over the earth—even those who have died.

The resurrection of all the dead, both believers and unbelievers will follow Jesus’ return, accompanied by Judgment Day.  More on those topics next.
